Sderot to Open Therapeutic Farm for Children with Post-Traumatic Stress

The city of Sderot is set to establish a therapeutic farm dedicated to supporting children coping with post-traumatic stress. The project, backed by the municipality in collaboration with companies and donors, will involve an investment of approximately 16 million shekels. The farm will combine treatment, leisure, education, and efforts to strengthen both personal and community resilience.

The facility aims to provide comprehensive professional care primarily for children and teenagers, utilizing advanced therapeutic methods including equine-assisted therapy to enhance mental well-being, self-confidence, and coping skills. City officials highlighted the farm's role in addressing the ongoing emergency conditions faced by Sderot residents, emphasizing its potential as a safe, inclusive, and healing environment.

The new complex will feature modern infrastructure designed for therapeutic activities, educational programs, and community engagement throughout the year. Samaritan's Purse will contribute 11 million shekels to the initiative as part of a partnership to promote social and community development in Sderot. The farm is scheduled to open on October 15, 2026, and is expected to become one of the city's most significant resilience projects in recent years, offering residents a space for calm, growth, and hope for the future.
