Former Israeli Colonel Questions US Hesitation on Iran Military Action Despite Readiness

Retired Colonel Harel Kanfo, a member of the Israeli security movement "The Security Experts," expressed growing confusion over the United States' reluctance to take decisive military action against Iran, despite apparent readiness and sufficient armaments. In an interview on News 14, Kanfo highlighted that although the US has the necessary weapons stockpiles, as confirmed by President Trump, there has been no significant movement or progress in the Iran-Hormuz Strait situation.

Kanfo noted that the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains under Iranian control, indicating no clear resolution either economically or militarily. He dismissed explanations attributing US inaction to distractions like the recent World Cup, stating, "The World Cup is over, and there is nothing on the table." He emphasized the lack of negotiations and the continued closure of the Hormuz Strait, with only occasional ship passages.

Regarding Israel's position, Kanfo said the country is prepared to intervene but stressed that this time the goal should be regime change in Iran. He also pointed to internal disagreements within the US administration, mentioning Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as having differing views on the approach. Kanfo advocated for a ground invasion to secure the Hormuz Strait under American control, calling it the minimum necessary step given the strategic importance of the strait to Iran's leverage.

The interview reflects ongoing uncertainty about US policy towards Iran, with Israeli security analysts previously suggesting a planned major strike was delayed due to alleged ammunition shortages, a claim Trump denied.
