In Israel, a notable bubble occurred during the 1983 banking stock crisis, where artificially inflated bank share prices collapsed, leading to a stock market closure, nationalization of banks, and a taxpayer cost of about $6.9 billion. Globally, the late 1990s dot-com bubble saw rapid investment in unprofitable internet companies, culminating in a 2000 crash that wiped out approximately $5 trillion in U.S. market value.
