Iranian media claim emerging deal with U.S. includes Lebanon ceasefire and frozen funds
Iranian media reported on Friday that the emerging agreement with the United States includes a ceasefire in Lebanon as well as the release of about $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets. The claims come after President Donald Trump said on Thursday night that a deal with Iran is expected in the coming days and that the war has ended.
An Iranian official involved in the talks denied Trump’s remarks and said Iran is prepared for war. The report presents the proposed arrangement as a major American concession, describing it as a “gift” from Washington.
After Trump’s announcement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Trump had spoken with him about the developing understanding with Iran ahead of negotiations. Netanyahu said that although Israel is not a party to the memorandum of understanding, he appreciated Trump’s commitment to ensuring that any final agreement would remove enriched material, dismantle enrichment infrastructure, limit missile production, and stop Iran’s support for its regional terror proxies.
