Hapoel Tel Aviv Awaits Gorfinkel's Decision on Left-Back Reinforcement
Hapoel Tel Aviv is working to strengthen its squad for next season, with left-back a major priority after the departures of Yazan Nassar to Hapoel Petah Tikva and Ziv Morgan. The Reds want a player who can compete with Doron Leidner for a starting spot, especially since Leidner played only 23 league matches this season, some of them as a substitute.
The leading candidate is former Hapoel player Yahav Gorfinkel, who is under contract with AEK Larnaca for one more season. He has not yet decided whether to return to Israel. If he does come back, he is expected to sign a two-year deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv.
If Gorfinkel stays abroad, Hapoel is expected to look for another Israeli left-back, because the imminent signing of Thiomoko Diare will likely leave the club without room for another foreign player in the squad.
Meanwhile, left-back Ofer Gelbard, who was loaned to Maccabi Yavne in the summer and returned in January to the club's youth team, is expected to go out on loan again. He is wanted by Hapoel Kfar Saba of the Liga Leumit.
