Dozens of Dogs and Cats Await Adoption Across Israel This Weekend
Several Israeli animal shelters and rescue groups are promoting adoption candidates this week, with many of the animals rescued from municipal pounds, abandonment, or neglect. The roundup highlights pets from S.O.S. Animals, New Life for Dogs, Rishon Loves Animals, the Ramat Gan SPCA, the Tel Aviv SPCA, Friends for Dogs, the Ashdod municipal kennel, and Animals and Us.
Among the featured animals are Arita, a 5.5-year-old female dog from a municipal shelter with three unadopted puppies about 3 months old, and Ron, a friendly 4-month-old puppy found abandoned in southern Israel. S.O.S. Animals says visitors can meet them at its adoption center in Herzliya on Friday and Saturday, with about 120 dogs and cats available, including dozens of puppies. The group also announced a special Friday adoption day every two weeks for municipal-pound dogs, with about 20 dogs each time, and the next one is set for Friday, June 12, 2026.
Other shelters are presenting more animals, including Persilia, a 2-year-old dog that should go to a home without other animals; Alfi, a 3.5-month-old puppy from a northern shelter; Luna, a 6-year-old mixed Pinscher who is shy with new people; Taco, a 1.5-year-old dog good with children; and three dogs from Rishon LeZion, including Kora, Didi and Lizi. The Tel Aviv SPCA is offering Raven, a 4-month-old kitten abandoned at its gate, and two older dogs, Binz and Demka.
The Ramat Gan SPCA listed Jerry, who was born without a paw, plus Dolly and Bailey, both about a year old and good with children. Friends for Dogs is highlighting two 3-month-old puppies, Bnei and Tzion, along with Lola and Geva. Ashdod’s municipal kennel is seeking homes for Beethoven, a 11-year-old Shih Tzu with medical issues and possible hearing loss, as well as Pitzi and Saan. Animals and Us near Afula is also offering Ouzo, Ari and Katrina, with age and adopter restrictions on several of its animals.
