Israeli Transport Ministry Seeks to Cancel Harley-Davidson Import License from Alber

The Israeli Ministry of Transport has initiated proceedings to revoke Alber's import license for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, one of the world's most renowned motorcycle brands. Alber disclosed that it received a hearing notice under Section 10 of the Vehicle Licensing Services and Professions Law, which allows the ministry to suspend or cancel import licenses if the licensee is convicted of offenses that question their suitability to operate in the profession. This action follows Alber's recent admission to charges of fraud and tax offenses, which triggered the ministry's decision to hold the hearing. This marks the first time the Transport Ministry has summoned a vehicle importer for a hearing due to a criminal conviction. Alber stated its subsidiary intends to respond to the allegations raised during the hearing. Besides Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Alber also imports Chinese Avatar cars. While losing the Harley-Davidson import license would not significantly impact Alber's financial standing, it would damage the company's reputation, especially given Harley-Davidson's high public profile in Israel.
