Israeli Police Detain Suspect in Blue Tower Bombing Amid Ongoing Investigation

In the ongoing investigation into a series of grenade attacks in central Israel, three suspects remain in custody as of July 2026. Among them is Fadi Abu Saif, who was brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a remand extension hearing. Abu Saif is suspected of involvement in the July 10 grenade attack on the Blue residential tower in northern Tel Aviv. The police have charged him with causing an explosion with explosives, illegal possession and transport of explosives and weapons, conspiracy to commit a crime, vehicle identification forgery, and intentional property damage.

During interrogation, Abu Saif provided an alibi claiming he only touched the motorcycle allegedly used by the perpetrators in the past and was at a café on Olei Zion Street in Jaffa at the time of the attack. However, he did not disclose the names of the friends he claimed were with him. Police have seized security camera footage from the café and plan to conduct cellphone location tracking to verify his account.

Judge Eitan Kornhauser ruled there is reasonable suspicion and grounds for detention due to the risk of flight and potential interference with the investigation, extending Abu Saif's detention until July 26. This development occurs as most other suspects arrested in the grenade wave have been released to house arrest, leaving only two others in custody.
