Ramat Gan Mayor Undergoes Tumor Removal Surgery, Denies Life-Threatening Condition

Carmel Shama HaCohen, the mayor of Ramat Gan, announced on Tuesday that he is hospitalized for surgery to remove a tumor from his body. He emphasized that he is not in life-threatening condition and dismissed recent rumors about his health as false. In a public statement, Shama HaCohen said, "I enter the surgery with faith, optimism, and strong spirit. I am not in danger of life, not seriously ill, and there is no basis for the malicious rumors spread by opposition supporters."

He revealed that about a year ago, he successfully underwent surgery to remove a six-centimeter tumor from his right kidney. Later, another tumor was discovered in his left kidney. The current surgery was initially postponed due to preparations for a possible military campaign against Iran and then delayed again because of his mother's deteriorating health.

According to Shama HaCohen, the tumor will be removed while preserving the kidney, with no evidence of metastasis and no need for additional treatments. He expects a recovery period of two weeks to a month, after which he plans to return to full activity. He concluded his statement with wishes for complete recovery.
