Before the Knesset Dissolves, One Last Push for Anti-Media Legislation
After the bill to dissolve the Knesset passed its first reading, the coalition is continuing to advance legislation against the media promoted by Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi. The bill to control the funding of the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation is expected to pass its first reading next week. The bill to split up the media also passed, despite the position of the Knesset legal adviser. There is serious doubt whether it will later pass the High Court of Justice test.
