US Completes Eighth Night of Strikes on Iran Amid Rising Tensions in Middle East

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday the completion of an eighth consecutive night of airstrikes targeting Iran. The strikes hit Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, as well as missile and drone storage sites. Additionally, Revolutionary Guard forces responsible for launching missiles at US troops in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers, were also targeted.

CENTCOM stated that over 50,000 US military personnel are deployed across the Middle East, remaining vigilant and prepared. Israeli officials assessed that US President Donald Trump is likely to expand the campaign. Meanwhile, Iran has retaliated by firing at US bases in the Gulf and the broader Middle East, warning of a "decisive response" against any country aiding the US.

Approximately 100 US refueling aircraft are en route to Israel, while the US Embassy in Israel issued a travel advisory urging citizens to reconsider trips to the Middle East due to the risk of unexpected escalation. Israeli security sources indicated no current missile threats toward Israel but warned the situation is volatile and could change if Iran feels cornered. A senior IDF official noted Iran's efforts to avoid involving Israel but cautioned this could shift if US strikes intensify.

Qatar continues mediation efforts to de-escalate tensions, but political analysts doubt these will influence President Trump's short-term decisions. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced Tehran's suspension of all commitments under the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, citing US attacks as the cause. Iranian media reported three US strikes in Hormozgan province on Sunday. US officials in Washington declared plans to punish Iran for failing to honor the agreement. Later, a statement from Mojtaba Khamenei dismissed Trump's signature as invalid and meaningless.
