Already as the players came out onto the pitch for the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, which was held today (Thursday), we were introduced to FIFA's new ceremonies. First, the home team players came out of the locker rooms to the sound of the famous song "Sirius," which accompanies the Chicago Bulls' player introductions and walkout in the NBA, performed by The Alan Parsons Project.
In addition, all squad players came up together to the center circle for the playing of the national anthems, unlike the usual format in which the starting lineup stands side by side. The flags of both teams were unfurled in the stadium, with the aim of giving all spectators inside the stadium a more meaningful viewing experience.
