Ukraine Strikes Major Russian Logistics Centers Near Moscow Causing Multiple Casualties
Ukraine launched a heavy drone attack overnight between Friday and Saturday targeting key logistics and oil infrastructure in Russia's Moscow region. The assault hit warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, causing massive explosions and large fires. Videos from the scene show intense blasts and thick smoke as dozens of workers fled the facilities.
Evgeny Pribyshev, governor of the Moscow region, reported seven workers were killed and 25 injured in the strikes. He added that 28 Ukrainian drones were intercepted during the attacks. Another warehouse in Elektrostal, east of Moscow, was also hit, injuring 24 employees.
Tatiana Kim, CEO and partner of Wildberries, described the night as "terrible" and expressed condolences to the victims' families. Reuters confirmed the strikes targeted two significant logistics centers in the Moscow region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the attacks, confirming they also targeted a Russian oil facility.
The attacks represent a significant escalation in Ukraine's offensive capabilities within Russian territory, focusing on disrupting critical supply and energy infrastructure near the capital. The situation remains fluid as Russia assesses the damage and response measures.
