Ukraine Strikes Major Russian Logistics Centers Near Moscow Causing Multiple Casualties
Ukraine launched a heavy drone attack overnight between Friday and Saturday targeting key logistics centers and oil infrastructure in Russia's Moscow region. The assault caused massive explosions and fires at warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, resulting in significant damage and chaos. Videos from Russia showed intense blasts, large fires, and thick smoke rising from the affected sites, with dozens of workers fleeing the scenes.
Evgeny Pravyshov, governor of the Moscow region, reported that seven warehouse employees were killed and 25 others injured in the strikes. He also stated that 28 Ukrainian drones were intercepted during the attacks. In a separate incident in Elektrostal, east of Moscow, 24 workers were wounded in an attack on another Wildberries warehouse.
Tatiana Kim, CEO and partner of Wildberries, described the night as "terrible" and expressed condolences to the victims' families. Reuters confirmed that two major logistics centers in the Moscow region were hit. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the strikes, confirming attacks on the logistics hubs and an additional strike on a Russian oil facility.
