Bristol City Defender Lisab Issa Injured Eight Minutes Into Debut
Lisab Issa, the 21-year-old defender who recently transferred from Maccabi Haifa to Bristol City, suffered an injury just eight minutes into his debut for the English Championship club. Issa started in a pre-season friendly against Stockport County but had to leave the field early due to the injury, as confirmed by Bristol City.
Issa signed a four-year contract with an option for an additional season, earning £700,000 per year. Bristol City paid Maccabi Haifa €2.5 million, matching his release clause, to secure the transfer. Last season, Issa made 33 appearances for Maccabi Haifa across the league, cup competitions, and Conference League qualifiers, scoring one goal and providing two assists, establishing himself as a key defensive player.
Bristol City finished 12th in the Championship last season and were eliminated in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the second round of the League Cup. Their manager, Michael Skubala, has not signed any other defenders during the 2026 summer transfer window so far. Issa’s injury raises concerns for the club’s defensive options ahead of the new season.
