Trump Teleprompter Operator Profits Over $100K Betting on Presidential Speeches
In the United States, Gabriel Perez, the teleprompter operator for President Donald Trump, reportedly earned over $100,000 by betting on the content of Trump's speeches. Federal investigators uncovered that Perez exploited insider knowledge of the speeches he was helping to deliver, according to ABC News. Perez has worked as a technical assistant and teleprompter operator for Trump since 2016, starting from Trump's first presidential campaign.
Investigations revealed that Perez placed bets on more than a dozen speeches over a three-month period, including the State of the Union address delivered to Congress in February. Authorities found instances where Perez adjusted or withdrew bets mid-speech when Trump skipped certain words or phrases he had previously wagered on. Perez has cooperated fully with federal regulators and admitted to some of the betting activities.
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle responded by emphasizing the administration's strict ethical guidelines and confirmed that Perez is cooperating with the investigation. Federal officials are currently negotiating with Perez to resolve the allegations related to his misuse of privileged information for personal gain.
