Ultra-Orthodox Leaders Demand Reserved Party Seats or Threaten Campaign Against Political Leadership
Amid widespread disappointment within the ultra-Orthodox community over their political representatives' performance, community leaders and local political figures have demanded reserved seats within ultra-Orthodox parties. This move is part of a new political organization effort that does not constitute a formal party. The demands are based on in-depth research indicating that the current political leadership has particularly failed the younger generation on issues such as military conscription, youth dropout rates, poverty, and other sector-specific concerns.
Representatives from these communities have met with party officials, but these discussions have not yielded concrete results. In response, they have threatened to launch an internal community campaign sharply criticizing the ultra-Orthodox leadership ahead of the upcoming elections if their demands for reserved party positions are not met.
