Niue Issues First Official Coin Featuring Chabad Lubavitch Rebbe's Image

In a historic collaboration between the island nation of Niue and the New Zealand Mint, an official silver coin bearing the image of the Lubavitcher Rebbe was issued on Tuesday. The coin commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Rebbe assuming leadership of the Chabad movement and carries the message "Spreading the Light," symbolizing the global outreach established by the Rebbe through thousands of emissaries worldwide.

The coin is made from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and features meaningful design elements. One side displays the Rebbe's portrait alongside the phrase "Blessing and Success" in multiple languages, a signature blessing he gave to countless individuals. The reverse side shows the iconic 770 building, the Rebbe's study hall, with a menorah emitting rays of light, representing the spreading of Jewish teachings and light.

This is the first time such a coin with the Rebbe's image has been granted legal tender status and can be officially used as currency. A unique aspect of the coin's production is the inclusion of an original coin distributed by the Rebbe for charity, melted together with the silver used for minting. Each coin has a face value of one Niue dollar, and only 5,786 coins were minted, corresponding to the Hebrew year 5786 (2025-2026).

This limited edition release is expected to attract significant interest among collectors and followers of Chabad worldwide, marking a significant milestone in honoring the Rebbe's legacy.
