Shas Leader Aryeh Deri Strongly Criticizes IDF Chief Over Arrest Law Warning

Aryeh Deri, chairman of the Shas party and initiator of the controversial "Arrest Law," sharply criticized IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir following Zamir's warning letter to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Zamir had expressed concerns about the law, which Deri views as a dangerous political interference by the military. In an interview with Kikar HaShabbat, Deri accused Zamir of mixing politics with the army and described his actions as a serious precedent that harms the Israel Defense Forces. Despite acknowledging Zamir as a friend and expressing personal respect, Deri said, "Unfortunately, for a long time now, I see that he has lost it."
