Israeli Eurovision Star Tal Sondak Releases New Song Marking 25 Years of Music
Tal Sondak, the Israeli singer and songwriter who represented Israel in Eurovision 2001, has released a new personal single titled "Girl in Uniform" to mark his 50th birthday and 25 years of musical career. The song was inspired by a poignant family moment familiar to many Israeli parents: the enlistment of his eldest daughter into the Israel Defense Forces, with his middle daughter soon to follow. Drawing on feelings of pride, longing, and deep emotion as a father of three daughters, Sondak created a work that gives voice to this powerful shared Israeli experience.
This new single coincides with a significant milestone in Sondak's career, celebrating a quarter-century of rooted Israeli musical creation. Over the years, he has established a unique artistic voice connected to Israeli culture. Notable projects include "Still, I Do Not Part," an album produced by Corinne Allal based on Sondak's compositions to the poems of Gabor Ardesh, a Jewish boy who perished in the Holocaust, and "Their Song," a project that set to music previously uncomposed texts by major Hebrew poets, with melodies by Rami Kleinstein.
Sondak has collaborated with leading Israeli artists such as Yitzhak Klepter, Rami Kleinstein, Ilanit, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Alongside his solo career, he has spent 25 years as a musical director nurturing generations of children and youth in musical ensembles across Israel.
