Leading Israeli Rabbis Urge Public to Support Ill Torah Scholar Facing Urgent Medical Costs

The family of the late Hazon Ish, a foundational figure in Israeli religious scholarship, is known for producing some of the greatest Torah scholars of recent generations. Although the Hazon Ish himself had no children, he devoted much care to his nephews, among whom were three world-renowned rabbis: Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Rabbi Nissim Karelitz, and Rabbi Chaim Greineman. Another nephew, Rabbi Meir Greineman, has traditionally avoided public attention and never sought favors based on his family ties. However, in an unprecedented move, Rabbi Meir Greineman has issued a rare public appeal for urgent financial assistance.

This appeal is joined by Rabbi David Lando, a leading rabbinic authority for Jewish communities worldwide, who also requests public help for a distinguished Torah scholar currently facing severe health challenges. The scholar, described as a devoted teacher and family man, must travel abroad for critical medical treatment that requires thousands of dollars beyond his health insurance coverage.

Rabbi Meir Greineman emphasizes the importance of supporting this scholar to prevent his collapse under financial strain, blessing all contributors with protection from sorrow and pain. Rabbi Lando adds a handwritten note underscoring the special merit in aiding a Torah teacher who benefits the community, highlighting the spiritual reward for donors.

The public is urged to donate at least 400 shekels to assist this scholar, thereby participating in the continuation of Torah teaching and receiving a special blessing. The call to action is accompanied by a video message from Rabbi Greineman and a direct link for urgent contributions.
