Former Iranian Foreign Minister Proposes Capturing 100 US Soldiers Amid Rising Tensions
Manouchehr Mottaki, former Iranian Foreign Minister and current member of the Iranian parliament, called on Wednesday for a ground attack on a US military base in the region. He suggested capturing 100 American soldiers and bringing them to Iran. This statement comes amid escalating tensions following a recent US presidential interview in which President Donald Trump warned that attacks on Iran would continue in the coming nights. Trump threatened to destroy all of Iran's power stations and bridges unless Tehran returns to negotiations, stating that the worst is yet to come next week.
Simultaneously, missile alerts sounded in Jordan where the military reported intercepting three ballistic missiles fired from Iran. Reports also indicated ongoing exchanges of fire in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state television. Shortly after, Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced an attack on a US base in Bahrain and warned that if Washington attempts to block regional oil and gas exports by controlling maritime routes, other export routes used by the US and its allies could also be closed. The statement emphasized that regional energy exports would be "for everyone or for no one." These developments highlight the increasing volatility in the Gulf region amid US-Iran confrontations.
