17-Year-Old Blind and Disabled Teen Inspires Thousands with Social Media Videos
David Har Sinai, a 17-year-old Israeli who has been blind and wheelchair-bound since infancy due to a severe E. coli infection that caused a stroke, is gaining widespread attention for his inspirational social media presence. Despite his disabilities, David actively creates videos that promote awareness and motivation for people with disabilities. He recently completed high school in a mainstream setting and plans to attend a pre-academic preparatory program at the Aleh Association in Or Yehuda.
David shares that his outlook on life changed as he learned to accept and love himself despite his limitations. He emphasizes the importance of a supportive and loving environment, crediting his family for helping him develop resilience and high aspirations. His videos, which often include self-deprecating humor, have attracted over a million views, though some comments have been harsh, particularly towards his sister who appears with him in the clips.
Born healthy, David’s life changed at just over a year old when the infection left him blind and disabled. Recently, he was also diagnosed with celiac disease. His family plays a central role in his life, with his older brother named Magen, together forming "Magen David" (Star of David), symbolizing their close bond. David draws joy and strength from his siblings and young nephews.
Looking ahead, David aims to excel academically, particularly in Israeli history, Bible studies, mythology, artificial intelligence, and songwriting. He uses specialized computer software that reads text aloud to accommodate his blindness. He advocates for accessible learning materials and believes that with proper support, he can achieve any academic goal.
David’s core message to others is to embrace their true selves and avoid changing for others. He urges people not to judge others superficially but to value what is inside. His story highlights the power of positivity and authenticity in overcoming adversity and inspiring others.
