Knesset Legal Advisor Asks Ultra-Orthodox MKs to Declare Family Benefits from Arrest Exemptions

Knesset legal advisor Sagit Afik has addressed a letter to ultra-Orthodox members of the Knesset requesting that they disclose if any of their family members are deserters who would benefit from a proposed law granting exemptions from arrest. The letter highlights concerns that the bill could affect the legal status of candidates for military service, whose expertise is central to their role. Afik warned that halting legal proceedings under this law might raise suspicions of conflicts of interest or at least the appearance of such conflicts.
