Hundreds Block Route 90 in the North: "We Voted Likud for Years, the Government Abandoned Us"
Hundreds of residents from Hatzor HaGlilit and Rosh Pina, led by the heads of the local councils, blocked traffic on Route 90 in protest over being left out of the national aid and reconstruction map. The protesters said they were demonstrating against "blatant institutional discrimination" and demanded full equality in the allocation of aid budgets and benefits for the north.
One of the protesters said, "We voted for Likud, we gave them our vote time after time out of the belief that they would protect us, and now the government is simply turning its back on us, abandoning us and leaving us behind. For years we have gone with them and been disappointed time and time again. We will not agree to be second-class citizens."
