New Poll Shows 80% of Americans Expect Prolonged War with Iran
A recent poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos reveals that four out of five Americans anticipate a long-lasting conflict between the United States and Iran. The survey, carried out over three days and concluding on Sunday, found that 79% of respondents believe U.S. military involvement in Iran will continue for an extended period, up from 65% in a similar poll at the end of March. Only 18% of those surveyed expect the war to end quickly, within a few weeks.
The poll included 1,019 adults across the United States and has a margin of error of approximately four percent. Around 37% of participants supported the recent U.S. military strikes on Iran, which Washington resumed in response to what it described as Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, the conflict escalated further as the U.S. Central Command announced it had completed another wave of airstrikes against multiple military targets across Iran during a five-hour operation overnight. The strikes hit locations including Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas, targeting coastal defense systems, missile sites, and drones. This ongoing military campaign underscores the intensifying tensions between the two nations.
