Israeli Leaders Criticize Government for Ignoring IDF Chief's Warning on Soldier Amnesty Bill
Naftali Bennett, chairman of the Yachdav party, responded to a letter from IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir opposing a bill to freeze arrests of military deserters. Bennett stated on X that the Chief of Staff is once again warning of an impending disaster, but the government formed after October 7 continues to ignore all such warnings.
Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yisrael party and former IDF Chief of Staff, also commented on the letter, saying that the current government has led the country toward disaster with open eyes, disregarding warnings from the Chief of Staff, security officials, and members of Knesset, including himself.
Avigdor Lieberman, leader of Yisrael Beiteinu, criticized the government coalition, accusing Prime Minister Netanyahu and his partners of harming the IDF and national security to protect coalition members Aryeh Deri and Simcha Goldknopf, all for the sake of maintaining power for a few more days.
