Illinois Firefighters Rescue Young Deer Struggling in Fox River

Firefighters and animal control officers in Aurora, Illinois, rescued a young deer that was in distress and at risk of drowning in the Fox River. The incident occurred near the Downer Place Bridge in downtown Aurora after city workers spotted the deer emerging from a drainage pipe into the river and alerted emergency services. Rescue teams arrived by boat, retrieved the deer from the water, and transported it to the Kane County Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for care. At the rehabilitation center, the deer was named Jonas in honor of the firefighter who saved it.
