Millions of Wildebeest Begin Dramatic River Crossing in East Africa
Around two million wildebeest are currently undertaking their annual migration from Tanzania to the lush grazing areas in Kenya. This natural spectacle is taking place in East Africa, where the herds reach the banks of the Mara River. Upon arrival, the wildebeest pause for several days, hesitant to cross due to lurking crocodiles.
The dramatic moment occurs when the first wildebeest plunge into the river, followed by hundreds of thousands in a massive rush to the opposite shore, attempting to escape predators. A special footage captured on Sunday by photographer Yitzhak Carmeli shows the initial moments of this vast herd crossing the river.
