UN Reports Hamas Seizes Food Distribution Site in Northern Gaza by Force

The United Nations issued an unusual statement on Monday reporting that Hamas forcibly took control of a UN food distribution center in Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip, over the past weekend. The group also violently attacked aid truck drivers at the site.

Yoram Halevi, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, condemned the incident on his Facebook page, stating, "We strongly denounce this serious event. Hamas has once again shown it spares no means to exploit humanitarian aid intended for you to serve its criminal interests." He added that Hamas militants are indifferent to the population's needs, focusing instead on maintaining power, instilling fear, and diverting aid meant for civilians.

Dr. Ramiz Al-Aqbarawb, the UN humanitarian coordinator, described the incident not as isolated but part of a recurring pattern of intimidation, violence, and disruption of humanitarian efforts in Gaza. This development raises concerns about the safety and effectiveness of aid delivery amid ongoing tensions in the region.
