Israeli Prosecution Drops Charges Against Reut Ben Haim Over Gaza Aid Truck Blockade

The Israeli prosecution announced on Monday that it has withdrawn the indictment against Reut Ben Haim, a leader of the 'Tzav 9' organization, who was charged with blocking aid trucks destined for the Gaza Strip. The original indictment accused Ben Haim of causing a public disturbance without reasonable cause and disturbing the peace. Following the prosecution's announcement, Judge Noga Shmueli Meir of the Kiryat Gat Magistrate's Court ordered the cancellation of the charges.

Ben Haim's attorneys, Tzofia Nahon and Reut Avital-Avni, praised the state's decision to retract what they called a baseless indictment that infringed on fundamental rights such as freedom of expression and protest. They emphasized that Ben Haim's struggle to secure the release of hostages and prevent aid from reaching Hamas during wartime is a just cause, and they condemned attempts to intimidate her.

Reut Ben Haim herself expressed gratitude to the thousands of supporters across Israeli society, crediting public pressure for the dismissal of the charges. She vowed to continue her activism with renewed strength, opposing the transfer of aid to Hamas amid efforts to rebuild Gaza, which she claims endangers Israeli border communities. Ben Haim stated, "We will not stop until we succeed in this fight, serving the people and the state."
