Shas MK Haim Biton Investigated for Alleged Misuse of Public Education Funds
Shas Member of Knesset Haim Biton was questioned under caution for the second time on Sunday by the Lahav 433 unit over suspicions of misusing public funds intended for educational purposes. The investigation centers on allegations that between 2018 and 2021, before Biton became an MK, he used funds from the Maayan Hachinuch Hatorani network, where he served as CEO, to finance a children's supplement added to the Shas party newspaper. Biton's first interrogation took place in March, with the latest occurring yesterday. The charges against him include fraud, receiving property by fraud, breach of trust, false registration in corporate documents, and money laundering.
