Shas Official Denies Rumors of Not Running for Knesset

Member of Knesset (MK) Haim Biton, the director-general of the Shas party, has addressed and vehemently denied rumors suggesting he will not run in the upcoming Knesset elections. Speaking in an interview with Kikar HaShabbat, Biton dismissed the reports as "false rumors spread by interested parties," stating that such claims are "much more than nonsense."

When directly questioned about his candidacy, Biton clarified that while he is unaware of any other plans, the final decision rests with the Council of Torah Sages, the supreme religious authority of the Shas party. He implied that individuals with ulterior motives are behind the dissemination of these rumors, advising one interviewer to "delete some unnecessary WhatsApp groups" where such gossip might circulate.

Biton's remarks aim to put an end to speculation that has been circulating, particularly within social media groups. He emphasized that he is focused on his current role and that any future political endeavors will be determined by the party's leadership and the Council of Torah Sages.
