Israeli officials have shared new details regarding a warning they conveyed to the United States about an alleged Iranian plan to assassinate former President Donald Trump while he was in Turkey. This intelligence, reportedly provided by a Western intelligence agency, led to heightened security measures, including the replacement of Trump's presidential aircraft before his departure from Ankara.

Despite escalating tensions between the US and Iran, Israeli authorities currently assess that Iran does not intend to attack Israel directly. Jerusalem believes that an Iranian strike on Israeli territory or civilians would significantly escalate the conflict, potentially spiraling out of control. An Israeli source expressed hope that Iran would not make such a miscalculation.

The intelligence warning about the assassination plot was reportedly detailed enough to include explicit statements from the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Herzog.
