“We Didn’t Expect Such a Circus”: A Day in the Knesset as the State Comptroller Was Chosen

This week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s personal lawyer was elected State Comptroller. The secret ballot was supposed to pass relatively quietly, but it turned into a major uproar when Knesset members were recorded voting for the candidate favored by Netanyahu.

We visited the Knesset on the day of the vote and spoke with lawmakers, who denied claims that any directive had been given, and accused their party colleagues: “Some of us betrayed us, I will align myself with whatever the prime minister asks.”
