Young Jaffa Resident Dies After Being Shot on City’s Main Street
Ibrahim Alzayesi, a man in his twenties from Jaffa, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning after being shot the previous day on Jerusalem Boulevard, the city’s main street. The shooting, which occurred near the Arlich station of the Red Line light rail, is believed to be linked to criminal activity. This incident marks the fourth murder in Jaffa within the last two and a half weeks.
Emergency services received the shooting report on Saturday at 16:38. Paramedics provided initial treatment at the scene and transported Alzayesi to Wolfson Hospital in critical condition, performing resuscitation efforts en route. Senior paramedics Kfir Varsano, Yosef Kurdi, and Shimon Dahan described the victim as unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe penetrating wounds.
Since the beginning of 2026, 153 Arab citizens have been murdered in Israel, with only 16 cases solved, highlighting ongoing challenges in addressing violence within these communities. Police have collected evidence at the scene and launched an investigation into the shooting.
Alzayesi’s death adds to a troubling pattern of violence in Jaffa, raising concerns about public safety and law enforcement effectiveness in the area.
