Czech Republic Says It Will Block EU Moves to Sanction Ben Gvir
Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Petr Mrazek said in an interview with Bloomberg that “the Czech Republic will block attempts by the European Union to impose sanctions on Israel’s minister of national security.”
As recalled, in May, following a meeting in Prague between Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Petr Mrazek, Mrazek said that “we will no longer allow sanctions against Israel in the European Union, even if that means we will have to block them on our own.” In the interview published today (Thursday) by Bloomberg, the Czech minister said that “the Czech government is focused on strengthening political and economic ties with Israel and with other countries, and wants to build pragmatic relations instead of exporting moral sermons.”
In the interview, Minister Mrazek clarified that the Czech Republic would block European Union attempts to impose sanctions on Israel’s minister for national security. He added that he had made clear to his partners in the European Union “not to even try, because we will block it.”
