The Gulf states and Jordan issued a sharp, united response overnight Thursday to Iranian attacks on American bases in their territory. Iran launched missiles and drones at targets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan in response to American strikes carried out yesterday on cities in Iran, including Bandar Abbas and Karaj near Tehran. Most of the missiles were intercepted, but civilian damage was caused.
Qatar strongly condemned the Iranian attacks, calling them “a blatant violation of state sovereignty and an open violation of the rules of international law.” The Qatari Foreign Ministry called for de-escalation and the preservation of stability, and expressed “full solidarity” with the three affected countries.
Saudi Arabia also joined the condemnation, saying that “the Kingdom strongly condemns the resumption of Iranian attacks” and that they “increase the intensity of tensions in the region.” The Saudis called for calm, avoiding escalation and continuing mediation efforts led by Pakistan and Qatar.
For its part, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said: “We strongly condemn the crimes of the American terrorist regime in the broad attack it carried out on Iran tonight. The attacks have rendered the ceasefire effectively irrelevant. We are determined to neutralize the sources of the attacks on our country, within the framework of our right to self-defense against U.S. aggression.”
In Bahrain, the Interior Ministry announced this morning that a girl was lightly wounded, vehicles caught fire and homes were damaged in the cities of Hamad and Manama, following falling interception fragments.
In Jordan, the army said it intercepted about 20 missiles fired toward the Al-Azraq area. There were no casualties or damage. This is the second consecutive night that Iran has attacked the area in Jordan, this time with 12 ballistic missiles.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) issued a strongly worded statement yesterday after the Manama meeting, condemning the “brutal Iranian attacks” and describing them as a blatant violation of international law. The statement said: “Your hostile actions do not serve any understanding or rapprochement, but instead sow discord and close the door to dialogue. The security of the council states is one indivisible whole.” The council emphasized the right to self-defense and full solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.

The threat to Trump
Meanwhile, Mohsen Rezaei, adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, responded today to the American attacks and the threats of U.S. President Donald Trump, posting on X: “The unrestrained American president imagines that bombs can pull him out of the swamp he himself created, but the Iranian missiles will sink him deeper into the swamp.” Rezaei concluded with an ultimatum to the Americans: “Washington must choose between accepting Iran’s terms or losing the last shred of credibility it still has in the world.”
