MK Maoz Calls on Shin Bet Chief to Shut Down the Jewish Division

MK Avi Maoz called on Shin Bet chief David Zini to shut down the Jewish Division, arguing that the agency should not be dealing with actions against Jews but should instead "deal only with thwarting our enemies, there is enough work in that arena."

MK Avi Maoz commented today, Thursday, on a report in Haaretz that the Shin Bet would be involved in monitoring the ultra-Orthodox protest, and called on the agency’s chief, David Zini, to close the Jewish Division. According to Maoz, "The Shin Bet should not be involved in thwarting protest actions against Jews. Whether it is against the ultra-Orthodox or against the settlers, the Shin Bet should deal only with thwarting our enemies, there is enough work in that arena."

Maoz also sharply criticized the agency over the failure on October 7: "It is no wonder that the Shin Bet failed on Simchat Torah. Because the same means it uses against our enemies, it uses against our friends."
