France Lends Bayeux Tapestry to British Museum for First Time in 900 Years

France has loaned the Bayeux Tapestry, a medieval artwork depicting the Norman invasion of 1066, to the British Museum. This marks the first time in approximately 900 years that the tapestry has returned to English soil. The transfer was conducted under a strict and technologically advanced security operation, with the exact date of the handover kept confidential. To underscore the tapestry's value, the United Kingdom agreed to pay around 917 million euros in compensation should any damage occur during the loan period.
