Israeli Arab MK Iman Odeh Meets UN Secretary-General Over Crime in Arab Society
Israeli Arab Member of Knesset Iman Odeh held an unusual meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York to discuss the issue of crime in the Arab community. Odeh presented Guterres with a professional document condemning what he described as the Israeli establishment's deliberate neglect of Arab citizens. He urged the UN chief to assist in addressing the rampant crime affecting the Arab sector.
This meeting follows Israel's decision in May to freeze ties with Guterres' office after he included Israel on a blacklist of sexual violence in conflict zones, alongside Hamas and ISIS. Guterres remains a controversial figure in Israel, regarded as persona non grata by some due to his critical reports. Odeh's engagement with Guterres highlights ongoing tensions and the Arab minority's concerns about state neglect and security challenges within their communities.
