Explosions Reported in Southeastern Iran Amid US Strikes and Regional Tensions

On Thursday evening, explosions were reported in Konarak city in southeastern Iran, as well as in Bushehr and other locations across the country. These incidents follow a recent wave of extensive US military strikes targeting southern Iran and other areas. The attacks coincide with the funeral procession of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US strikes in April.

Iranian news agency Mehr reported multiple explosions in Bushehr but did not provide details on the cause, damage, or casualties. Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that one of its members was killed by "enemy drones," according to state media. Rumors of explosions on Kharg Island were denied.

Alarm sirens were also heard in Bahrain, and Kuwait's military stated its air defense systems intercepted hostile missile and drone attacks. Iran has threatened further strikes on US bases in the region if military actions continue. Kuwait condemned the repeated Iranian attacks on its territory and reserved the right to take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty.

Earlier, Iran's military claimed to have launched drone attacks on the Isa Air Base in Bahrain, which hosts US forces, declaring all US bases in the region as legitimate targets. In response to the escalating tensions, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a warning to airlines to avoid Iranian and Iraqi airspace until August 31 due to the ongoing conflict and risk of further military activity.
