US Official Confirms Pilot Phase Launch in Israel-Lebanon Negotiations This Month
A senior US official announced that the upcoming talks between Israel and Lebanon, scheduled for July 14 and 15 in Rome, will mark the transition to implementing the agreed framework between the two countries. These closed-door discussions aim to enable governments to delegate responsibilities to professional teams tasked with addressing all detailed issues outlined in the framework.
The official emphasized that the first pilot area is expected to commence within days, with additional pilot zones already in planning and mapping stages. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) is coordinating with both Israel and Lebanon to facilitate ongoing progress.
Furthermore, the official noted that there will soon be outreach to international partners to assist the Lebanese government in effectively restoring sovereignty in these pilot areas and eventually across the entire country. This development follows Prime Minister Netanyahu's recent statement regarding the continued presence of forces in southern Lebanon as of June 22, 2026.
