Israeli Man Arrested in Ariel for Alleged $17 Million Money Laundering Scheme
A man in his 30s from Ariel was arrested on suspicion of operating a money laundering scheme involving approximately 60 million shekels (around $17 million). The investigation, led by the Anti-Crime Unit in the Samaria region, recently moved into a public phase. Authorities suspect the man used shell companies, currency exchange offices, and intermediaries to conceal the source of the funds and obscure his identity.
During a raid on his home, police seized hundreds of credit cards, checks, invoices, and other documents believed to be connected to the illicit activity. Representatives from the National Bookkeeping Unit of the Israeli Tax Authority also participated in the search. Concurrently, a tax audit revealed suspected underreporting exceeding one million shekels, with findings forwarded for further tax enforcement.
Additionally, investigators confiscated assets valued at about two million shekels, including real estate and bank account funds. The suspect was brought before a court, which extended his detention until July 14, 2026. The investigation remains ongoing.
