Pecan AI CEO Highlights AI's Growing Role and Academic Challenges in Industry Future

Dr. Zohar Bronfman, founder and CEO of Pecan AI, spoke at the Calcalist and HIT Industry Future conference in Holon about the significant role artificial intelligence (AI) will play in our world. Drawing on his 20 years of AI research experience, Bronfman emphasized AI's ability to extract patterns from noise, recognize patterns invisible to the human eye, predict outcomes beyond human capability, and add value to actions taken. He noted AI's capacity to simulate scenarios, such as predicting athletic potential, and its recent breakthroughs in mathematics by OpenAI.

Bronfman stressed that academia still has a vital role, especially in radical creative thinking, human connections, and determining what is ethically appropriate to research. He argued that while AI can conduct research, the judgment of what is important and how to pursue it remains a uniquely human responsibility. He highlighted that academic progress often results from collaborative groups rather than isolated individuals and that ethical considerations cannot be derived from logic alone but require human ethics.

Concluding, Bronfman called for academia to embrace AI as a powerful tool and adapt its methodologies accordingly, viewing this as a major opportunity for transformation in research and innovation.
