Israeli Debit Card Daily Spending Surpasses 1.7 Billion Shekels for First Time
Data from Shva, the company managing Israel's national payment systems, reveals that public spending via debit cards reached 51.529 billion shekels in June 2026. This marks a 23.6% increase compared to June 2025, when spending totaled 41.694 billion shekels. The June 2025 figures were affected by a 13-day period of economic restrictions during Operation "With the Lion" against Iran, which limited business activity. The difference between the two periods amounts to over 9.835 billion shekels.
In June 2026, the average daily debit card spending hit 1.718 billion shekels, a 1.6% rise from May 2026's 1.691 billion shekels. This is the first time the daily average has exceeded 1.7 billion shekels. Online purchases also set a new record, with the average daily online transaction volume reaching 1.001 billion shekels in June 2026, surpassing the one billion shekel threshold for the first time.
