New Center-Right Political Alliance Fails to Pass Israeli Election Threshold, Weakening Netanyahu's Likud
A recent political alliance forming in Israel's center-right ahead of upcoming elections faces significant challenges, according to new polling data. Meno Geva, CEO of Madgam Consulting and Research, revealed in a Radio 103FM interview that the latest surveys show the joint list formed by retired Brigadier General Dedi Simchi and Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz does not surpass the electoral threshold required to enter the Knesset.
Despite the alliance's failure to secure enough votes, Geva noted an important political effect: the partnership reduces the number of mandates for the ruling Likud party by one seat. This development could influence the overall balance of power in the Knesset.
Simchi recently confirmed advanced talks with Gantz, with an agreement placing Gantz first on the list and Simchi second. Their declared goal is to become kingmakers who can push for a broad unity government. However, the polling data indicates that the public remains unconvinced by this new political bloc, leaving it outside the parliamentary threshold.
This outcome represents a critical setback for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party, as the shifting mandate dynamics could impact the election results and coalition formation.
The findings highlight the volatile nature of Israeli politics ahead of the elections and the uncertain prospects for new political entities attempting to disrupt established party dominance.
