Israeli Police Spokesman Refuses to Commit to Obeying Supreme Court Over Government

On Tuesday, Israeli Police Spokesman Superintendent Aryeh Doron was interviewed on the program "Binyamini and Gueta" and questioned about the police's stance if a conflict arises between the government and the Supreme Court. Doron declined to commit that the police would side with the Supreme Court in such a scenario. Repeatedly pressed on the issue, he stated that the police will obey whoever the law requires them to obey. When asked why he would not clearly say the police would follow the Supreme Court, Doron responded that no law compels him to answer in a specific way and that he was expressing himself in his own words.
