State Comptroller Reports Sharp Decline in Enforcement Against Prostitution and Brothels
Outgoing State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman released a report addressing prostitution and human trafficking for sexual exploitation in Israel. The report highlighted significant gaps in enforcing the law banning the consumption of prostitution, warning of under-enforcement six years after the law's enactment. Englman stated that enforcement actions, which are crucial to reducing the phenomenon, have been insufficient. He also criticized the inadequate implementation of measures to combat human trafficking for prostitution, protect victims, and provide necessary care. The report urged the police and Ministry of Justice to intensify enforcement efforts. Additionally, Englman called on the Population and Immigration Authority at the Ministry of Interior to strictly adhere to its authority and procedures in granting residency permits to trafficking victims.
