The Police Investigations Department has filed charges against a Border Police officer accused of assaulting a West Bank resident at a checkpoint near Jerusalem. According to the indictment, the officer, serving as a squad commander at the container checkpoint, confronted a vehicle carrying eight passengers, including the resident. Upon learning that a photo of a weapon was found on the resident's phone, the officer removed him from the vehicle and took him behind the detention cell at the checkpoint. There, the officer allegedly struck the man repeatedly in the abdomen and chest, then used an improvised baton to beat him until his left hand was broken.
